Georgia Harris: Working With Clay

BUILDING HER POTTERY. “When I make pots, I build them. If I’m going to make a vase, I usually build it up as high as the bowl I want and then I let it set and dry and let it get to where it will hold the neck that goes on it, and put part of the neck on it. And I put the rolls up there and then I let it get as high as I’m going to make it; and then I’ll trim it off and let it set. And if I’m going to put heads on it, let it dry again another stage and put the heads in place, and then it’s ready.” —Georgia Harris [image: Georgia Harris creating an owl effigy]
